Hal Johnson, Joanne MacLeod named Oktoberfest parade grand marshals
CTV Kitchener: Oktoberfest in Cambridge
Oktoberfest celebrations are slowly picking up steam with a luncheon and keg tapping in Cambridge. David Imrie is there.
Will Oktoberfest parade-goers be told to take time out of their morning for exercise?
It’s a distinct possibility, given this year’s parade grand marshals are Hal Johnson and Joanne MacLeod.
The duo, best known for their televised “BodyBreak” fitness segments and their recent appearance on The Amazing Race Canada, were announced as the grand marshals Tuesday night.
They’re also accomplished amateur athletes, with Johnson previously belonging to the Canadian national baseball team and MacLeod competing on the national track and field team.
This year’s parade runs on Oct. 14, starting at 8:30 a.m., and will be broadcast that day at noon on CTV Kitchener.
The 2013 edition of the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest kicks off Wednesday with keg tappings and luncheons in Cambridge and Waterloo on Wednesday and Thursday.
The festival’s grand opening takes place Friday at Kitchener City Hall.
